“We do not know of what a body is capable of doing, nor how it can live… there is more, always more” (May, 2005) … To get closer to the individual body, I often find myself immersed in ‘human life and ways of living’. The research process throughout my work speaks the language of the body, its ‘identity’,‘behaviour’ and ‘performances’ practised through routines and rituals. This is often captured through a strong sense of Fashion and Documentary style.

Concepts are inspired through cultural observations and questioning existing theoretical research such as the need for communication, tackling social issues and for opening dialogues in contemporary times. Storytelling of all sorts are developed through ‘Play’ and ‘Interaction’ and practised with other bodies through various creative directions: photography, styling, dance, listening and conversations. Through the simplicity of my work I try to induce a sense of freedom for others and for myself and to construct a connection about the real moments of life we often take for granted or see as mundane.

My studio exist outdoors: the streets, beaches and nightclubs that has documented urban and rural places in London, Barcelona, Mexico and Malta. This has given me the opportunity to be amongst various traditional and contemporary cultures, participating alongside communities such as Rave, Gay, Native cultures that celebrates equality of the body as being singular. The visual and written element of the work produced often challenges the Fashion industry, matters of diversity and encourages education in visual art.

Cultural and social interest have progressed after studying in London College of Fashion, where afterwards I have stepped away from the commercial route of the Fashion Industry and focused more on documenting everyday life, performance and dress in Barcelona. Currently my research in based in my home country Malta emphasising the need for social spaces and contemplating on both the urban and rural environments lived by the islands dense population. I belief that boundaries of art should be blurred through experimentation and participation towards a diverse democratic social world.
